Crucial Contributors

This page is dedicated to the teachers, volunteers, artists, and farmers who have perrenially offered their service and gifts to Common Vision projects.  These are the go-to community who selflessly give of themselves to help bring forward the message of care for the earth and care for the people.

Joe Sabol of the Central Coast CRFG chapter has run a High School Grafting Program where every spring he teaches students at 30 schools across the central coast to graft there own apple trees. This program has helped over 10,000 students to graft trees since 1998. This year he will be running a workshop for the Fruit Tree Tour crew to increase the crew’s grafting and teaching capacity for the Roots-to-Fruits Program.

Unity Nguyen has blessed numerous Fruit Tree Tour school programs and benefit events with her music, dance, healing, and wisdom.  As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Unity Nguyen draws on many traditions from around the world. Her music weaves together various languages and instruments, including the dan tranh (16-string zither of Viet Nam); and the kora (21-string harp of West Africa). Besides performing and teaching music, Unity holds a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Unity has selflessly offered acupuncture and Chinese herbs to crew members to help keep us all healthy throughout the tour.

As performance director, Xylem Larla Dey has been an invaluable contributor to Common Vision projects since 2003. She has volunteered her service on three consecutive Fruit Tree Tours. Every year she molds the group of eco-educators into a troop of Green Thespians in order to share our performance with 15,000 students across California. She has also been instrumental in the development of the Eco-beats program. With a BA in theatre from Sarah Lawrence and almost a decade of experiene as a home-school teacher Xylem's rich gifts have guided the crew educators to effectively teach, facilitate, and embody the messages we share.
